Postponement of the 4th Japan-China-Korea Joint Conference on Meteorology

20 May 2009

Dear colleagues,

As you may know well, the novel influenza A(H1N1) (swine flu) is propagating very widely across the world, and spreading quickly within Japan since last weekend. Meteorological Society of Japan has prepared the emergence of the possible risk of the flu during the J-C-K Joint Conference, and watched carefully for the situation. In order to secure your health, we have discussed with the Chinese Meteorological Society and Korean Meteorological Society yesterday evening. Given the emerging situation, we agreed it is difficult to hold the conference as we initially planned, and we have decided to postpone the coming Japan-China-Korea Joint conference with a great regret. It is very unfortunate that we have to make this decision just prior to the conference.

J-C-K Joint Conference is organized by the Meteorological Societies of the three countries based on friendship and mutual understanding. We will have the conference to be resumed in a foreseeable future. We will inform you regarding the time and place of the conference, as soon as decided.

     Sincerely yours,

Local organizing committee of the fourth Japan-China-Korea
